From the time I met Bernie, I observed an individual that had a tireless work ethic. We served together on may highly technical committees from the Toms River Trimer investigation where there were hundreds of chemical contaminants that were identified in the study and in prior USEPA archive water quality data. Serving with Bernie on the testing subcommittee of the drinking water quality instate of New Jersey, we developed analytical capability and occurrence information for many of the new regulatory chemicals in drinking water. Bernie was always there with details about the current certified laboratory capability and offered real world expertise and limitations that made the MCL development representative of the current analytical capabilities. He will be missed as a colleague and technical asset for the Department.
