I am deeply saddened to learn of Bernie's passing and I want to send my sincere condolences to his family. I had the distinct privilege of working with Bernie at the NJDEP. Bernie was foremost a kind, caring, helpful individual whom you could always count on to assist with technical questions concerning contaminated site issues, especially in the realm of contaminant testing and analysis. Despite his numerous other important responsibilities as a chemist in the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA), he would nonetheless take the time to promptly and thoroughly assist me with dioxin-related questions over the years. He will be sorely missed, especially his ever-friendly demeanor, and I feel fortunate to have known him and worked with him.
