Condolence: My heart goes out to Bernie's family. I worked with Bernie in the NJDEP, Office of Quality Assurance. He was an outstanding chemist who tried to make a difference in this world and who was a font of knowledge to me personally. He had a wry sense of humor and we had many laughs together. I was fortunate to have been one of his friends.

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Condolence: From the time I met Bernie, I observed an individual that had a tireless work ethic. We served together on may highly technical committees from the Toms River Trimer investigation where there were hundreds of chemical contaminants that were identified in the study and in prior USEPA archive water quality data. Serving with Bernie on the testing subcommittee of the drinking water quality instate of New Jersey, we developed analytical capability and occurrence information for many of the new regulatory chemicals in drinking water. Bernie was always there with details about the current certified laboratory capability and offered real world expertise and limitations that made the MCL development representative of the current analytical capabilities. He will be missed as a colleague and technical asset for the Department.

Condolence: I am deeply saddened to learn of Bernie's passing and I want to send my sincere condolences to his family. I had the distinct privilege of working with Bernie at the NJDEP. Bernie was foremost a kind, caring, helpful individual whom you could always count on to assist with technical questions concerning contaminated site issues, especially in the realm of contaminant testing and analysis. Despite his numerous other important responsibilities as a chemist in the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA), he would nonetheless take the time to promptly and thoroughly assist me with dioxin-related questions over the years. He will be sorely missed, especially his ever-friendly demeanor, and I feel fortunate to have known him and worked with him.

Condolence: I worked with Bernie at the State for more than ten years. Bernie was a good, kind considerate man in addition to be an outstanding chemist. Even near the end, he was always concerned about others and not himself.

My life was enriched having known Bernie. His family should be honored by his life and memories.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Bernie's passing, and I would like to send my condolences to his family. I am so appreciative of all of the support I received from Bernie for our work in the NJDEP Office of Science. He even helped me from home when he was ill last summer. But even more important, he was a wonderful person and a good friend. I will miss him very much!
