Obituary for Zbigniew A "Bernie" Wilk

Zbigniew “Bernie” Adam Wilk, age 57 beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, of Edison passed away Saturday May 31, 2014 at Kindred/Rahway Hospital, Rahway. Born in Nowa Deba, Poland he immigrated as a child with his family to the US in 1962. He attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and St Mary’s High School. He earned his doctorate in Analytical Chemistry/Mass Spectrometry from the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed as a research scientist by the State of NJ Department of Environmental Protection and previously by Union Oil of California. “Uncle Zbys” best times were when he was spending time with his niece and nephew, discussing travel as well as showing them around the various locations when he lived out of state. He enjoyed long drives, sports and was an avid tekkie.

He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jozef and Stefania Wilk, his maternal grandparents, Franciszek and Antonina Jadach. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, John and Anna Wilk of South Amboy, sister Cas Zambrzycki and her husband Witold of Sayreville and his adoring nephew and niece, Mark Zambrzycki of Sayreville and Alison Zambrzycki of Milltown.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with an 11:00am Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Amboy. Burial will follow at St Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bernie’s name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
