Obituary for Virgil Blake

Virgil   Blake
Dr. Virgil L.P. Blake passed away on August 13th 2016 after an extensive illness. Born in Groton, Massachusetts he lived in South River, New Jersey for the last forty years. After receiving his PhD from Rutgers University in 1988 he moved on to Queens College City University of New York where he taught for over twenty years and published extensive works related to his field before retiring as chairperson of the Library and Information Science department in 2010. An avid reader of western novels and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he also enjoyed spending his time traveling, listening to music, and spending quality time with his pets. He was actively involved in the Western Writers of America, local historical societies, and volunteered for Middlesex County
4-H for twenty years. He is survived by wife of fifty-four years Sandra, daughter Beth Kenny and son-in-law Timothy Kenny, son Virgil L.P. Blake II, daughter Sarah Blake and Jay Ingstrup, grandchildren Collin and Clare Kenny, sister Vera Strickland, nephew Jason Strickland and wife Susan, and lifelong friend Richard Sawyer.
