Walter C. Kulik age 95 of South River passed away peacefully on Friday March 18, 2016 at his home with his loving and devoted family at his side. Born in South River he was a lifelong borough resident. Before his retirement he was employed by Richardson Company in New Brunswick as a machinist for over 25 years and then worked for the Middlesex County Vocational School in East Brunswick as an instructor in the Machine Shop for 5 years. Mr. Kulik was a proud member of the U.S. Army during World War II, and was very involved in South River Politics serving as Democratic Council Member from 1965 through 1969, two term Mayor from 1970 through 1975, Planning Board Member and served on the Board of Adjustments. Walter was a member of the Imperial Music Center in South River a lifelong communicant of Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, church Trustee, Eucharist Minister, and was a soloist in the Saint Cecelia Church Choir.

He is predeceased by his wife Helen Wolyniec Kulik in 2010. Surviving are his loving daughter Rosemarie Kulik of South River, his grandson Christopher Sikorski and his wife Kira and great grandson Brenden Sikorski.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 9am mass at Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River with burial to follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Monday from 5pm to 8pm. Members of Saint Mary’s Holy Name Society will hold services Monday 7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Walter’s memory be made to St. Mary of Ostrabrama Rebuild My Church Fund, 30 Jackson St South River, NJ 08882.
