Obituary for Roy A Place

Sayreville
Roy Place age 67 of Sayreville passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lyons. Born in New York City he has resided in Sayreville all of his life. Before his retirement in 2003 he was employed for over 25 years as Truck Driver for Cardinal Health in Edison. Roy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the Sayreville American Legion Post 211 where he was a member of the Honor Guard. He was a member of the Sayreville VFW Post 4699, an avid baseball player with several local teams and enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his friends.

He is predeceased by his wife Marcia L. Place, his parents George & Anita Place and his brother George Place. Surviving are his sister Dodee Place of Milltown, his nephew & niece and their spouses John & Sharon Place, Tracy & Eric Jent, his sister in law Ronnie Place, his step son Troy Stewart, 2 step granddaughters and several great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday 5:30pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with private cremation to follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. Members of Sayreville American Legion post 211 will hold military services Sunday at 3pm, members of Sayreville VFW Post 4699 hold military services Sunday at 4pm. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in Roy’s name be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517
