Obituary for Robert A. "Bob" Gerleit Sr.
Sayreville
Robert A. “Bob” Gerleit, age 66 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with his loving family by his side. Born in Jersey City, Robert had resided in Sayreville for the past 42 years and Hoboken prior to that. Before his retirement 11 years ago, Bob was employed as a Financial Analyst with the Port Authority of NY/NJ for 37 years. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Bob loved to bowl and frequented the former Hill Lanes in Sayreville.
He is predeceased by his parents Alfred & Winifred Gerleit. Surviving is his beloved wife of 44 years Charlene (Weber) of Sayreville; son Robert and his wife Lauren of Colonia and daughter Jacqueline of Metuchen; his sisters Phyllis of CA and Barbara and her husband Steve of AZ; his 5 loving grandchildren Sophia, Isabel & Olivia and Cameron & Hannah as well as many nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, 10am from Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with burial to follow at Cloverleaf Park Cemetery in Woodbridge.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home are Friday from 2pm to 4pm & 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital – www.stjude.org or to the New Jersey Sharing Network – www.njsharingnetwork.org/contribute. Letters of condolence, directions and completed arrangements may be found at www.spezzifuneralhome.com.
