Obituary for Philip J Caputo
South Amboy
Philip J. Caputo, age 77 of South Amboy, passed away peacefully at the Venetian Care Center in South Amboy, on Tuesday January 8, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he had lived in Jersey City in his teens. He later moved to Sayreville in 1971 to start a family with Christine Lasko. He then moved to South Amboy in August of 1978 where he lived until his passing. He was a member of the Army National Guard. Before his retirement, Philip worked for Wakefern (ShopRite) from 1964 until 1999. He was an avid NY Mets fan since the Dodgers moved away from Brooklyn in 1957.
He is predeceased by his parents Stanley and Kathryn Gretowski.
Surviving are his sons and their wives Brian and Kathy, Michael and Tara, Nicholas, and his grandchildren Jeff, Scott and Riley.
Funeral services were private and held under the direction of the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, NJ.
