Obituary for Nicholas Popsuy

Nicholas  Popsuy
Nicholas Popsuy, 94, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 – 6 days shy of his 95th birthday. Nicholas was born in Mohilna, Poland, now a part of current day Belarus. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the Polish Army 2nd Corp. as a Sherman tank driver. Following the war, he spent five years in England before emigrating to the United States, living first in Whitestone, NY and then moving to Deans and East Brunswick, NJ, where he raised his family. Nicholas was employed for 34 years by Trans World Airlines at Newark Airport as a Lead Ramp Serviceman. Following his retirement, he lived in Phoenix, AZ for 17 years before moving back to the East Coast.
Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Iow and Christina (Boshko) Popsuy, brothers Vasily and Alexander, a sister Mary (in childhood), and his beloved wife of 51 years, Anna (Pisarchuk) Popsuy. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Popsuy of Sanford, FL; Christina Popsuy of Middletown, NJ; Peter and his wife Nancy Popsuy of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren, Daniel and Natalie Popsuy, and Sonia and Mark Lopez; sisters Tanya Maniuk of Belarus, Vera Kravetz and Nadia Zelinsky of Ukraine.
A viewing will be held from 4-7PM on February 15, 2019, at Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River, NJ. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on February 16,at SS. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, 76 Whitehead Avenue, South River, NJ, with interment immediately following in the church cemetery.
