Obituary for Matthew Clark

Matthew Clark
Parlin
Matthew T. Clark, age 59, of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was born in Elizabeth and was a lifelong resident of Parlin.

Matthew was an amazing son, brother, brother in law, nephew, uncle and cousin to his family and a genuine friend. He will be deeply missed by everyone who came in contact with him. Matthew had a smile that would light up a room. He had a way of making everyone feel good and one could only smile with him. Matthew cared deeply for all those in his life and was always there to help others. He always saw the good in others and through any situation.

In High School, Matthew was an outstanding athlete in both basketball and track and field. He held records in both sports for many years.

Although life threw him several huge curve balls, Matthew never let that define who he was each day. He lived life to the fullest in such a short time, called his own shots and took tremendous pride in caring for the home that his Mom built for him and his brother Joseph.

Matthew loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to Atlantic City and driving in his van. Matthew was a die hard New York Giants fan. He could be found in his garage on Sundays watching his beloved team, win or lose. Matthew traditionally set off fireworks after every touchdown. He was blessed to have some amazing friends that shared in this tradition each Sunday.

If you were lucky enough, Matthew gave you a nickname. He found a way to find a nickname that was more than appropriate and stayed with you forever. Blondie, E, Stinky, Ducky or “the birds” are just a few he used often.

Matthew was thrilled for his Godson Eric and fiancé Ashley, as they shared their wedding plans. He was looking forward to their wedding this August. Matthew will now be in their hearts on this special day.

He is predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Margaret Clark.
Surviving are his two brothers, Joseph who he lived with and Daniel of North Carolina. Joseph and Daniel were very proud of their younger brother and admired his courage. Matthew is also survived by his sister Margaret Clark-Hill who he adored and protected with pride. He often introduced his sister as his twin but that she was seven years younger than him. Matthew’s sister in law, Diane Clark and brother in law, Kenneth Hill will always remember his kindness and love.
Matthew will be dearly missed by his two sweet aunts Ann Bonner and Beatrice Bonner who he affectionately called, “The Birds.”
He was the best uncle to his nephew Daniel “Little Danny”, his nephew and Godson, Eric or “E”, his nieces Jamie “Ducky” and Amy “Blondie”. Matthew will also be missed by his great niece, Sophia.

Matthew’s family would like to thank his two doctors, Dr. Keith Reinsdorf and Dr. Neil Sherman for the outstanding care they provided Matthew over the past two years. Matthew was also fortunate to have Ken and LJ, his two caregivers with him at home. The compassion and care that these gentlemen gave Matthew will forever be appreciated by his family. His dear friends, Patrick, Shelley and Mark were there for him, they shared laughs, tears and a beer or two. Matthew was blessed to have them in his life.

Today we shed tears because Matthew is no longer with us. Today we celebrate the amazing man; Matthew was to all of us. We ask you to take a moment, think of a wonderful time with Matthew, smile the smile he would want us all to have as we remember him. He is in a better place free to run, jump and climb the highest mountain.

Peace and Cheers Matthew…. Until we meet again. Toodle Loo
This is not good-bye.
