Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Merritt

Margaret Merritt, age 75, of Parlin, peacefully passed away at home on March 14, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Brunswick, Peggy was a lifelong resident of Parlin. Peggy worked for Holy Trinity Church in South River before her retirement. Peggy was a lifelong member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Sayreville, serving as a deacon, elder and clerk of session. She was past President of American Legion Auxiliary Post 211. Peggy leaves behind wonderful family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more.

Peggy is predeceased by her beloved husband John as well as her parents Henry & Annamae Newman. Surviving is her beloved children Leslie & Paul Laikowski, John & Cherie Merritt, Andrew & Alysson Merritt and Mark Merritt as well as her 12 adored grandchildren, her sister and brother in law Marilyn & Joseph Zakrzewski and brother in law Howard Merritt and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services are private under the direction of the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
