Julia Plewa, age 94, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Home in Lawrenceville with her loving family at her side. Born in Sayreville, NJ, she has resided in Sayreville for most of her life before moving to Lawrenceville nine years ago. Before her retirement, Mrs. Plewa was employed by Sunshine Biscuit and was communicant of Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville.

She is predeceased by her husband, Andrew, and her siblings Joseph Dominick, Stanley Dominik and Rose Dzielak. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Judyann and Joseph Kowalski of Hopewell, NJ, Debbie and Lou Rodia of Hamilton, NJ and Gary and Cindy Plewa of Monmouth Junction, NJ, her grandchildren and their spouses Jeff Kowalski and Michelle Bowen of Berkeley, CA, Dr. Jill Gora of Oldwick, NJ, Emily Rodia of Philadelphia, PA and Michael Rodia of Hamilton, NJ, her great grandchildren Erin and Joe Gora of Oldwick, NJ and Parker and Claire Kowalski of Berkeley, CA and her siblings, Ceal Bogdan of Sayreville,NJ, and Michelina Dominick of Sayreville, NJ.

Julia enjoyed traveling with the St. Stan’s Senior Club. She was an accomplished seamstress sewing everything from wedding gowns to home décor. Her hobby was propagating azaleas in beautiful colors. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Julia was a proud member of the V.F.W Auxiliary Post 4699, The Sayreville Seniors Thursday Club and was a past president of the St. Stan’s Seniors Club.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015, 10:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street, Sayreville, followed by a 11am mass at Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Sayreville.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 8:30am to 10:30am. Julia’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Home for the wonderful care they’ve given Julia over the years.
