Obituary for Joseph A Nigro

Old Bridge
Joseph A. Nigro, age 83 of Old Bridge, passed away Thursday October 3rd at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabeth he lived in Sayreville for 24 years before moving to Old Bridge 35 years ago. Before his retirement Joseph worked in construction as a member of Local 394 in Elizabeth for 20 years and then for Ciba Geigy Pharmaceutical in Summit for 10 years. After his retirement he worked for McDonaugh Chrysler in East Brunswick for 10 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin where he was a member of their Knights of Columbus Council, as well as a member of the Vallates Italian-American Association, in Elizabeth.
He is predeceased by his sisters Mary DeLorenzo and Carmella Renna and his brother Michael.
Surviving are his wife Kathryn Elaine Sieber, his children and their spouses Shirley Jean Bergin and Kevin of Long Beach Island, Joseph William and Sharon of FL, Kathryn Mary Surowiec and Thomas of Clifton, Christopher and Diane of Clifton, and Maryanne Ford and James of Old Bridge; his sister Frances Gersick of Linden, his grandchildren Matthew, Kathleen, Elizabeth, Joseph, Paul, Thomas, Andrew, Jacqueline, Tyler, Amanda and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday 10:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with an 11am mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
