Joan Fitton Strek age 82 of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Monday March 11th 2013 at her home. Born in New Brunswick she has resided in Sayreville since 1949. Mrs. Strek was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church.

She was predeceased by her husband John T. Strek in 1989 and by her parents Arthur & Louise Meissner Fitton. Surviving are her children and their spouses Kathleen & Jaime Ayala of Metuchen, Lynn & Danny Yetman of East Brunswick and John D. Strek of Wolcott Vermont, her grandchildren Jamie & John Strek, and her brother Arthur Fitton of South Carolina. Joan will be greatly missed by her extended family, Melanie, Ian, Gavin, Gwen and Matayas.

Funeral services will be held Friday 9am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main Street, Sayreville followed by a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in Joan’s name be made to the Sayreville Emergency Squad P.O. Box 9 Sayreville, N.J. 08872. Messages of condolences may be left for the family at
