Obituary for Janet Kennedy

Janet Kennedy
Montclair
Janet Kennedy, age 69, was born to the late Woodrow Wilson Kennedy and Ruth Meadows Kennedy. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, New Jersey. Born and raised in Manhattan and the Bronx, New York. Janet lived in Montclair, New Jersey for many years to be close to her mother and sister. Prior to living in New Jersey, she began her professional career at Harlem Hospital where she became a nurse, and went on to obtain a Master’s in Nursing from New York University. She initially worked at UMDNJ where she honed her craft and established lifelong friends. Subsequently, she worked for over 30 years in the Coronary Care Unit at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where she was affectionately called “Mother or Mom Janet” by the nursing staff she trained and mentored on that unit. She eventually transferred to the Congestive Heart Failure Transitional Care Program. She was a faithful friend and great confidant to many. Janet was taken from us far too soon but will be remembered affectionately by all those who knew and love her.

Surviving are her siblings Doris Kennedy of Sayreville and Armel Kennedy of Queens, NY.

All services are private due to the COVID-19 federal restrictions on public gatherings, under the direction of Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St. Sayreville New Jersey, 08872. Letters of condolence can be found at www.maliszewskimemorialhome.com.
