Helen A. Skiba, age 94 of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on Monday March 30, 2020, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul and Agnes Swies, she has resided in Sayreville for the past 67 years. Before her retirement in 1988 Helen was a waitress for 20 years at the former Step Inn Ball Room in Sayreville. She was a communicant of Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville where she was a member of the Rosary Society. Helen was a member of the Sayreville St Stan’s Senior’s loved spending time at the Sayreville Senior Center where she played bingo and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City.

She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years Edward A. Skiba who died in 2000, her son in law Donald Potts in 2004 and her siblings Joseph, Charles and Edward Swies, Anna Mackarewicz, Mary Glodeck, Angie Beleskie, Theresa Wishnefski and Eleanor Stone. Surviving are her loving and devoted daughters Elaine A. Skiba, Mary Ann Potts and Susan Petzold and her husband Michael, her four grandchildren and their spouses Jared & Cari Potts, Jenna & Brett Phillips, Krista Petzold and Allie Petzold, and her four great grandchildren Adeline Grace, Mae Elizabeth, Everett James, and Jameson Don.

All services are private due to the COVID-19 federal restrictions on public gatherings, under the direction of the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville, N.J. Private burial will be held at Saint Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery Sayreville. Letters of condolence, completed arrangements and directions may be found by visiting www.maliszewskimemorialhome.com.
