South River
Edward J. Ostrowski, age 80, of South River passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in Freehold, he has resided in South River for the past 51 years. Before his retirement, Mr. Ostrowski was employed for Schweitzer Mauduit, formerly Kimberly-Clark as a proud union factory worker known as the “Big O” at work. He was a US National Guard Army Veteran, a member of the bowling leagues with Carolier Lanes, and a lover of the horses, spending many days at Freehold Racetrack and he loved going to Atlantic City. Edward enjoyed traveling with his family to Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania and Disney World. He loved animals and had many pets throughout his life. He loved spending time with his family and playing cards with his grandchildren. Ed was also an All State pitcher and a star basketball player for Freehold High School. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Edward is predeceased by his parents Anthony & Catherine, and by his siblings Helen, Mary, Bertha, and George. Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years Carol Ostrowski of South River; his loving children and their spouses Michele & Albert, Edward & Melissa, James, and Bonnie & Steve; his beautiful grandchildren Sarah & Bradford; and his siblings Frank & Rose.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30am from the M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River with a 10am Mass at Corpus Christi RC Church in South River.

A memorial service at the funeral home will take place on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
