Obituary for Charles "Chip" Blazas

Charles “Chip” Blazas, age 64 of Parlin, passed away peacefully at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, he lived in Kearny and Fords before moving to Parlin over 40 years ago. Chip first worked for All State Cash Registers and C & C Gulf Station. He was then a patrolman for Milltown Police Dept for 6 years and then as a patrolman for Sayreville Police Department for 20 years. He was a member of and past president of the PBA 98. He was lovingly known as Officer Chip to all of his beloved DARE Program kids. He took great pride in teaching children about drug awareness and he made a lasting impression on hundreds of students in Sayreville in his 13 years working the DARE program. He worked with the SAFE program, the Youth Guidance Council, and he was the liaison for the Sayreville Domestic Violence Response Team. Chip was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the South Amboy Elks Club and a member and sergeant at arms of The Breakfast Club for 10 years. He was a coach and past president of the Sayreville Leprechauns for over 20 years. He was an avid golfer and hunter and loved his trips out west with his son Jason. Chip was loved by everyone who knew him and will be so deeply missed.
He is predeceased by son Michael in 2006 and his parents Charles and Maureen.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 45 years, the former Sharon Nagy, his son and daughter in law Jason and Jodi, his cherished grandchildren Mason Michael and Marissa Riley, his sister Cindy Gerba, his nephew Daniel Blazas and his daughter in law Dawn Blazas.
Funeral services will be Friday 10am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin, with an entombment to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm.
