Andrew T. Brasno Jr., age 64 of South River, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Brunswick, he had lived in South River his entire life. Mr. Brasno was a graduate of Rider University in NJ and Notre Dame Law School in Indiana. Andrew was a councilman in South River from 1984 to 1987 and served as Mayor of South River from 1987 to 1991. He was a former attorney as well as a teacher. He was Past Grand Knight of the South River Council 3001 and a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years the former Christine Barkalow, his sons Jason of Gahanna Ohio, Ryan of Los Angeles CA, his daughter Jill Griffiths and her husband Michael of Laguna Beach CA, his sister Susan Meyers and her husband Richard of Hamilton Twp. and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave., South River with a 9am mass to follow at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm and 9pm.
