Memories of Summers Gone By

I will remember Uncle Alfie as a man with a strong work ethic. Because of his house in Waretown, my dad (his brother) was able to take me and my family to spend a week of our summer vacation there. We were usually joined by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. I remember clearing trees and brush from that property and a ride in the wheelbarrow was as good as going to an amusement park. We took walks in the woods, found box turtles, and fought the onslaught of mosquitoes that came with the territory! There were days spent at the beach on LBI and I developed a love and respect for the ocean. We went crabbing off a bridge in nearby Manahawkin and would take bike rides in that area of South Jersey that was still quite undeveloped in the 1960's. I am thankful for the memories made possible by visiting Uncle Al's house. God Bless.
