Obituary for James C. "Jersey Jim " Shindle Jr.

Sayreville
James C. “Jersey Jim” Shindle, Jr., age 95 of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 14, 2017 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, LA while on vacation with his family. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Parlin for the past 62 years. After graduating from Farleigh Dickinson High School, James enlisted in the US Marines and proudly served during WWII as a scout/sniper in the battle of Iwo Jima. After returning from active duty, Mr. Shindle worked as an electrical inspector with Western Electric in Jersey City for 36 years. Throughout his life, Jim was always a very hard-working family man and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
James is predeceased by his parents James C., Sr. & Anna (Karboszewski) Shindle. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years Talitha Mae (Raborn) Shindle of Sayreville; his loving children Joanne Knox of Jackson and James III & wife Kathy of Jackson; step-daughters Cheryl & husband Gene Bays of Louisiana and Barbara Pavlik of Sayreville; 11 adoring grandchildren including James H. Knox of Freehold, Michael T. Knox and spouse Mary Lou of South River, Suzanne Shindle and husband Michael Rinaldo of Mountainside, Lori Shindle of Jackson, Kenneth Carroll, Dustin Carroll, Tammy Kelleher & husband John, Tracey Holiday, Tina Cicolella, Thomas Pavlik & wife Kim, and Terri Taeschler & husband David; and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 1pm to 5pm with a funeral service taking place at 4pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. A private cremation will follow.
