I first met Brandon while I was a sophmore in college, I was one of the first students to enroll at his families incredible gym, Strategic Combat (at the time) known currently as Strategic MMA. The gym at the time was smaller, no where near what it has currently grown into, but this allowed everyone that was there to get to know each other really well. Brandon Narleski was one of these fellow students, at the time I had no clue who he was, I had just assumed he was another young guy taking up MMA with the agenda of becoming the next UFC champ. I was addicted to everything Strategic, going from 2 days a week to unlimited classes in only 2 weeks, so my run ins with Brandon became more and more frequent. Every class with Brandon was a gift, about half my size but double in heart. Brandon was the Honey Badger to the cobra, fast, relentless, and incredibly resilient. But most of all he was HUMBLE. He never complained, or asked for the bigger guys to take it easy, and never once announced or boasted it, that Strategic was his families gym. Every class started the same, a handshake and a hug, kind greeting, warm-up, and Brandon gave everything he had to help others get better. He was a shining example of what it meant to be a kind, open-hearted person, a true reflection of his parents and family. Anyone who knows the Narleski's will certainly agree to that statement. I grew very close to this family and over time Brandon became someone that was very important in my life, we watched UFC events together, went to grappling competitions, trained together, and taught me so much, that I am forever indebted to his kindness. People like Brandon are so rare, he was so far ahead of his age; thinking about how he is gone and writing this is making my hands shake and stomach churn. Its so important to me that John, Lori, Alfonso, and Tara know how important Brandon was to people and especially me. The respect and love for this incredible family should have no limits. I am forever grateful for everything they have done for me and especially Brandon for being a friend. Brandon, I am in tears typing this, you were a golden soul, a man light years ahead, full of drive, energy, and passion. You have left a legacy and anyone you knew is better for it. So I say thank you, God Bless, and rest easy. Love, M. Murray
