A Bond with Musiciains

To play music is truly a spiritual experience but when you share that with other musicians it becomes something unique. In my Senior year at St. Mary's Regional H.S. Joe and I had guitar class together. When I was told he'd passed on my heart was filled with sadness. Though I couldn't quite remember the last time we saw eachother we actually kept tabs on eachother through a relative who also attemded St. Mary's. That aside, my mind then took me to Sister Alexandra's room where Manny played a piano variation he'd come up with while Joe played drums, Keith joined Manny and I grabbed the good old cow bell. When I hit that cow bell Joe reacted with a deeply heartfelt laugh that I can still hear. This impromptu jam continued on for some time until class dismissed. At the end of the year Joe (a Junior at the time) made it a point to hug each of the Senior to wish them well. A permanent bond was formed from this and many other jams with Joe. Last night I played that same piano variation as soon as I could get in front of a piano. Simple as it was/is, we all enjoyed playing it then and I still do now.

To Joe, my brother in music, I'll never forget that. You touched my heart and I'm forever grateful we played music together and someday maybe we'll jam again. No amount of time will ever take that bond. To Joe's family, my most heartfelt condolences from my Family to all of you.

All my love,

Dan Battaglia
