Pacifico Phillip "Phil"  Principe
South River
Pacifico Philip Principe age 93 of South River passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, N.J. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he resided in South River since 1961. Mr. Principe was a graduate of Long Island University and received his MastersDegree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois. Before his retirement he was employed for 40 years at Bristol-Meyers Squibb as a Senior Research Scientist in Microbiology with numerous patents as part of his many achievements. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II as a Sergeant with a Group Station Hospital in England as part of the 8th Air Force. He was also a member of the South River American Legion Post 214, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1456 and the American Society of Microbiology. Phil was a Communicant of Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the W.O.W.’s.

He is predeceased by his wife Jane Trojanowski Principe in 1966 and his 11 siblings. Surviving are his children Dr. Philip Principe, CDR USNR and his fiancée Nancy Vaccaro of South River, N.J., Pamela Golgolab and her husband Nader of Chester,N.J.,Paul Principe of Long Island, N.Y. and his former daughter in law Marie Principe of Douglaston, N.Y. Also surviving are his grandchildren Alex and Cameron Golgolab, Anthony Principe and his brother Patrick Principe of Staten Island, N.Y. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Maliszewski Funeral Home at 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River, N.J. followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River with burial to follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick, N.J.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and 7p.m. to 9p.m. The following groups will hold services Tuesday at the funeral home: South River American Legion 7:15p.m., South River VFW 7:30p.m., Saint Mary of Ostrabrama Holy Name Society 8p.m.
