Obituary for Edward E Salay

Sayreville
Edward E. Salay, age 85 of Sayreville, passed away Thursday August 7, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Sayreville since 1975. Before his retirement, Eddie worked as a security officer with the Waterfront Commission in Jersey City. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War Conflict and a communicant of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Eddie was a member of the Sayreville American Legion Post 211, a 4th Degree member of the Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061 and a member of the St. Stan’s Holy Name Society.
He is predeceased by his first wife Irene Dzergoski, his parents Joseph and Susan, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years the former Rosemary DeFelice, his stepchildren Brian Stolte and his wife Deborah, Dawn Chrzan and her husband David, his grandchildren Daniel Chrzan and his wife Christine, Michael Chrzan, Jamie Chrzan and Erica Stolte, his great-grandson Jeffrey Alexander Chrzan and his loving shih tzu “Fluffy.”
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Eddie exuded warmth to all who knew him. He loved and was loved. He will be missed. Rest in Peace “Pop.”
Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville, with a 9am mass to follow at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will take place at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 3pm to 7pm. The following groups will hold services Monday at the funeral home: St Stanislaus Holy Name Society 4pm, American Legion Post 211 6:15pm, Knights of Columbus Council 2061 6:30pm In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
