South River Dorothy “Dottie” Christensen age 78 of South River passed away peacefully on April 1, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick with her loving family by her side. Born in Sayreville she had resided in South River for most of her life. Dottie was a communicant of Saint Mary of Ostrabrama. Mrs. Christensen is most well known for her and her husband’s restaurants in South River, Art Styles Hamburgers “2 for 35” and Red’s Castle. Dottie is predeceased by her husband Arthur “Red” Christensen, her son John Christensen and her siblings Marian Heluk and Terry Dunbar. Surviving are her Daughter Nancy Christensen and son–in–law Mark Daniels, her stepson Arthur Christensen, her stepdaughter Lori Eskin, her grandchildren, Dyllon, Dalton Lee and Mark Daniels and Arthur, John, Joe, and Ken Christensen, her great grandchildren Emily and Meagan Christensen, her sisters, Ruth Buffalino, Janet Quinty and Sandy Culligam , her seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Avenue South River followed by a 9am mass at Saint Mary of Ostrabrama R. C. Church in South River with burial to follow at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 4pm to 7pm.
