Obituary for Zigmunt Dombrowski

Zigmunt S. Dombrowski, 90, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2022, in his sleep at his home. Born April 2, 1932, he was a lifelong resident of Sayreville NJ. The youngest child of Konstanty and Matilda (Helinski) Dombrowski, he was the last of a family that included over eight brothers and sisters who survived to adulthood. He worked for decades at the Hercules Powder Co. in the borough and later for Premium Plastics (Himont) in East Brunswick, rising to prominent management positions at both before his retirement.

A U.S. Marine who served in the Korean Conflict, he was a proud member of VFW Post 4699. A communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka RC Church, he was also a prominent participant of their Holy Name Society and Senior Citizens Club, as well as the Sayreville Senior Citizens Thursday Club. He was additionally active in local politics and well-know and loved by countless elected officials and innumerable friends and family.

His principal passions were ballroom dancing, crabbing & fishing in Raritan Bay on his boat ('Getting Ziggie With It') and down the Shore, the NY Yankees and caring for the home he built on Weber Avenue and the family he raised there.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary (Doran) Dombrowski, daughter Patricia Brasfield and son Kevin Dombrowski. His extended family includes four generations of nieces, nephews and their bountiful children. He will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him throughout his long and full life.

Visitation hours are Sunday, April 24, from Noon til 4pm at Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St. Sayreville. Services will be held Monday, April 25, beginning 9am at St. Stan's 225 MacArthur Ave. Sayreville and immediately followed by internment at the Parish Cemetery off Pulaski Ave. in Sayreville.
