Obituary for Wilbur Leatherman

Wilbur Leatherman Jr, age 99, formerly of Matawan, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Summerhill Nursing Home in Old Bridge. Born in Marion, IN to the late Wilbur, Sr. and Ellen Leatherman, Wilbur lived in Matawan for many years before moving to Old Bridge 2 years ago. After graduating from high school, Wilbur proudly fought for his country in World War II, having served as a CPL in the US Army in the Battle of Normandy. Before his retirement, Mr. Leatherman was employed by Quasar as a credit manager. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Wilbur is predeceased by his beloved wife Delada. Surviving is his loving daughter and her husband Diane and Stanley Damion of Parlin; his grandson Steven Damion and granddaughter and her husband Kimberly and Rocco Mercatante; and his dear great-grandchildren Angelina, Owen, Christina, Gianna, Lilliana, and Antonia.

Calling hours will take place on Monday from 9am to 11am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with funeral services at 11am. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville. Because of cemetery restrictions on flowers, the family requests that condolences be made in another way.
