Obituary for Walter Stephen Mesh

Walter Stephen Mesh, also known as “Sonny," “Zeke," and "Wats," age 85, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 11, 2020. Walter was born in Sayreville, NJ and resided in his family home for most of his life. He proudly served his country travelling the world in the Navy. He worked as an esteemed electrician locally, nationally and abroad. He was a member of "the Hungry Hill Gang," IBEW #776, and the Sierra Club. Walter had a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors, he spent much of his time 'in the woods' while growing up, camping, hiking and travelling with his young family and riding his bike or kayaking with his dear friend and co-worker, Bob, at Sandy Hook. He loved skiing, scuba diving, fishing, reading and growing his own tomatoes. And, he was a life-long Jets fan no matter how much he was teased about it! Walter may have been a 'lone wolf' but he was so beloved by family, friends and neighbors, that he was never truly alone.

Walter is predeceased by his siblings, John Olsiewski, Stanley Olsiewski, Frank Olsiewski, Jesse Hydrusko and Florence Mesh-Hickman. Surviving are his children and their spouses Stephen Walter and Carolyn Mesh, Elizabeth Mesh and Sam Johnsen and Virginia Mesh and Fred Harris, his grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah and Dustin Fleming, John Mesh, Eve Mesh and Dahrian Harris-Mesh, his great grandson Sylas Walter Fleming, his brother-in-law Newt Hickman, his former wife Jane Sisser Mesh and loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and his many dear friends including Bob and Beetle Bogart. Grave side services will take place 12pm Friday, December 18, 2020 at St Stan’s Cemetery, Sayreville.

Memorial mass will take place on June 25th, 2021 at 10am at St. Stanislaus Church in Sayreville. Letters of condolence, direction and completed arrangements may be found at http://www.mailszewskimemorialhome.com under the direction of the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St Sayreville, NJ, 08872
