Obituary for Vera Myzhevych (Spasenyj)

Vera Spasenyj Myzhevych, age 80 of South River, passed away peacefully at her home. Born in Leipzig, Germany, of Ukrainian heritage, she immigrated as a young girl to South River, New Jersey where she resided her whole life.

Vera was a proud homemaker and loved cooking for her family. She was well known for her delicious stuffed cabbage and potato salad. Her love of cooking spilled over into her professional life as well, where she helped cater many events at the Belarusian Hall in South River. She also worked at the East Brunswick Fish Market and Willet Manor. Her greatest joy was being a Baba to her 6 cherished grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband James in 2005, her parents Teodor and Maria Spasenyj and her daughter-in-law Nancy.

Surviving are her loving children James and his fiancé Hilary, Mark and his fiancé Lisa, Karen Wyer and her husband Mike, her cherished grandchildren Matthew, Justin, Alexa, Jack, Christopher, and Emily, her sisters Nadia Spasney and Lucy Bellissimo and many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home with a 10:00am service at St. Euphrosynia Orthodox Church in South River. Burial will follow at St. Euphrosynia Cemetery in South River.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm with a Panahida prayer service at 6pm.
