Thomas E. Jacobi, age 90, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy on Friday May 15, 2015. Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, he resided in Linden, before moving to Parlin in 1954. Before his retirement in 1989 he was employed as Chief Power House Gold Seal Engineer, for Delco Remy Battery, a division of General Motors in New Brunswick where he worked for 20 years, and prior was the co-owner with his brother Jack of Jays Sweet Shop in Colonia. Thomas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, where he was honored by receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. Mr. Jacobi was a member of Kenilworth V.F.W. post 2230, was a member and Past Grand Knight of St Bernadette Knights of Columbus council 8478 and the Msg. Brady Assembly 4th Degree. He was a communicant of Saint Bernadette’s R. C. Church in Parlin where he served as Usher for many years.

He is predeceased by his wife Dorothy Matthews Jacobi in 1988, his parents George W and Mary A. Hopkins Jacobi, and his brothers George W. Jacobi Jr. and Eugene A. Jacobi. Surviving are his children and their spouses Thomas E. & Karen Jacobi Jr., of Woodbury Heights, William R. & Laura Jacobi of Cranbury, Robert E. & Mary Jo Jacobi Sr. of E. Windsor, Joanne Jacobi-Pohler of Williamstown, Richard A. & Eileen Jacobi of Williamstown, and Darcy & Joseph Myers of Monmouth Junction, his siblings Joseph Jacobi of Colonia, James Jacobi of Middletown, John “Jack” Jacobi of Colonia and Virginia Estwanick of Parlin, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by an 9:30am Mass at St Bernadette’s R. C. Church in Parlin with burial to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 6pm In following Thomas’s request No Flowers Will Be Accepted. The following groups will hold services Sunday at the funeral home: Kenilworth V.F.W. post 2230 2:30pm, St Bernadette’s K of C 8478 4pm, Msg.
