Stephen Petner, age 72 of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 10, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Born in South Amboy, he resided in New Jersey all his life. Stephen was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s R.C. Church. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed nothing more than going hunting and fishing. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and a born machinic, who fixed everyone’s car besides his own. Stephen loved watching NASCAR and The Dolphins. Before his retirement, Stephen worked as a machine operator for Merck Pharmaceutical company. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is predeceased by his parents Stephen & Martha Petner. Surviving is his adored wife of 51 years Marie as well as his son Stephen, his sister Barbara Garibaldi & and her husband Jerry, his sister-in-law Patricia Rocha and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday 10:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Ln, Parlin with a 11:15am Mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin. A private cremation will follow.
