Obituary for Stanley Sielewicki

Stanley Sielewicki
Stanley F. Sielewicki, age 93, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Stan’s three loving children consider themselves very fortunate to have been with him during this time.

Stanley was born on April 14, 1926, in South River, NJ to Peter and Stella Sielewicki (Smolinski). At the age of 18, he joined and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was proud of his service on the SS Theodoric Bland, and the USS Pasadena. He loved to tell stories of his adventures in Italy and Belgium, and finally, being present in Tokyo Bay during the Japanese surrender, marking the end of WWII.

He married his beloved Josephine (Bielak) on his birthday in 1955, and had a very happy marriage and partnership. They lived in Sayreville for 24 years, building a home and raising their family among many relatives and friends. Stan was a very faithful and active parishioner in St. Stan’s Church, and a member of their Holy Name Society. Stan and Jo moved to Arizona in 1986 for her health, but sadly, Josephine died in 1989.

Stan was employed for many years as an electrician, but really was a jack-of-all-trades.
He worked for Ford Motor Company, Cities Service Oil Company as an electrician and lab technician for 24 years, and Continental Bakery. He loved to work, garden, cook, travel, fix cars, research stocks, visit his family, give advice, and tell stories. When dementia robbed him of those stories in his final years, his beautiful personality continued to shine through, and he was lovingly cared for by his devoted son Mark.

Stan always made time to visit his son Mark and his family in Peoria, AZ, to spend time with relatives who vacationed in Arizona, and to attend weddings and family celebrations back east.

Stanley is survived by his three children and their spouses: Jerome and his wife Melissa, Kathy and her husband Michael, Mark and his wife Janice; seven grandchildren who lovingly called him “Dziadzi”: Madeline, Sam, Christine, Dylan, Dana, Emily, and John-Paul; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Leo and Joseph, sister-in-law Bernadette, and many nieces and nephews.

Stanley was predeceased by his parents, his four brothers Edward, Raymond, Chester, and Victor, who for 30 years he lovingly cared for after a disabling injury in the Air Force. His granddaughter, baby Jessica Sielewicki, died in 2006. He was fortunate to be united in marriage for 6 years to his second wife Adele, who died in 1997, and for 15 years to his third wife Marie, who died in 2015.

Throughout his life, through change and adversity, he continued to be the kindest, most gentle, all-accepting, unfailingly polite, intelligent man we have ever known. He considered himself a lucky man. His legacy is that, at 93, many tears are being shed by those who loved him, as well as many smiles and laughs as we remember his stories and wonderful personality. We will miss him greatly, and we consider ourselves the lucky ones.

Special thanks to the many wonderful caregivers at Grandview Assisted Living and Savior Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made Stan’s memory to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) https://secure.dav.org/site/Donation2?18244.donation=form1&df_id=18244&mfc_pref=T
