Obituary for Sergei Gayshun

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Sergei Ivan Gayshun, age 88 of South River, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Born July 8, 1931 in Pinsk, Belarus, Serge and his family lived in Hannover, Germany in the World War II Displaced Persons camps for several years before coming to America in 1950 at the age of 18. He was employed at Sayre and Fisher Brick Company for a couple of years and then as a research mechanic at Chicopee, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson, where he worked for more than 40 years before his retirement. He was a founding member of Saint Euphrosynia of Polotsk Belarusian Greek Orthodox Church in South River.

He is predeceased by his father, Ivan Gayshun, mother Tekla Kruk Gayshun, brother Ilaryon and sisters Nadia Kostenko and Olga Kolba.
Serge is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kazia; daughters Natalie Beckman (Maxey) of Washington Township, NJ; Kathy Vincent (Robert) of Studio City, CA; and, Lena Cress (Darren) of Mead, WA; grandsons Noah Beckman (Reut), Joshua Beckman and Matthew Vincent; great grandson Ori Beckman; and, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 6, 2020, at 9:30 am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River, with a 10:00 am service at Saint Euphrosynia Belarusian Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Saint Euphrosynia Cemetery in South River. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, January 5, 2020, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm with Panahida Services beginning at 6:00 pm.
