Obituary for Rose Marie Dentz (Kuntne)

Sayreville
Rose Marie Dentz, age 89, of Sayreville peacefully passed away at her daughter’s home in Maine on Thursday, November 18, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Sayreville to the late Joseph and Anna Kuntne, Rose was a lifelong resident of the borough. After graduating from Sayreville High School, she attended Secretary School, working for Rutgers University as a proctor as well as secretary and later for Oakview Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide.

Rose was always known for her colorful personality which could be found while baking, playing bingo, or mastering the claw machines on the Pt. Pleasant boardwalk. She was a lifelong and devout parishioner of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville, loved reading and crocheting, as well as camping with family and friends in her younger years. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years John Dentz, and her siblings John and Florita. Surviving are her loving children and their spouses Diane and Russell Wheeler of ME, and Timothy and Mary Lee Dentz of PA; her 2 grandchildren Emily and husband Cory Charpentier of ME, and Brian Dentz of PA; her 3 dear great-grandchildren Hailey, Ariana, and Brian, Jr; her special cousin Betty Jelonek; godchildren Nancy Montefusco and Lawrence Doney; nieces Nancy and Karen; as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 9am on Monday from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main St, Sayreville with a 9:30am mass at Our Lady of Victories RC Church. A private cremation will follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will take place on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rose’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.st.jude.org/donate.
