Obituary for Ronald H Madden

Ronald Hurst Madden was born on Sunday, April 11, 1965. He was the
youngest of four children born to the late Willie Floyd Madden and Virginia
Lee Hurst Madden.
Ronald was educated in the Jersey City public school system attending
elementary school at P.S. 20 and later attending Henry Snyder High School.
Ronald was raised by his parents in the Beth-El Seventh-Day Adventist
Church at 271 Stegman Street in Jersey City, New Jersey where he was
baptized along with his lifelong friend, Joseph.
Ronald loved music. At an early age, he joined the Cherub Choir, which
later became the Inspirational Choir. Ronald sang bass in the Inspirational
Choir who performed throughout the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey
and Connecticut. Ronald joined the Pathfinders where he honed outdoor
survival skills. He was also a member of the basketball team at Beth-El.
Ron-Ski, as he was affectionately known, was an honorary member of the
DSI Crew, which his brothers, Rodney and Jesse founded.
Ronald loved sports. He was all-around loyal to the New York professional
teams – the Giants, the Knicks and the Yankees.
On September 10, 1989, Ronald married Constance Butler. To this union
were born two children, Justice Hurst Madden and William Charles Madden.
Ronald loved his children very much and their memories together will be
etched in their hearts forever.
Ronald began his professional career working for the State of New Jersey as
a highway maintenance engineer until he decided to further his education.
He was also a certified Diesel Mechanic and licensed Pest Control
Specialist.
Ronald graduated from New Jersey City University with his Bachelor of
Arts degree in Psychology. He later attended Kean University where he
earned his Master’s in Special Education and Social Work. He earned a
second Master’s degree in Behavioral Analytics from the University of
Cincinnati.
Ronald worked for various educational institutions where he assessed
adolescent behaviors and instituted corrective and educational programs for
families. He was the Dean of Students at the Central Jersey College Prep
Charter School from September 2018 through July 2020.
In 2008, Ronald met and began a relationship with Lauralynn Shinka.
Ronald and Lorrie were married on May 5, 2014 and blended their families.
Ronald raised Lorrie’s younger children as his own treating them with love
and compassion as well as a firm hand to provide stability, strength and
guidance. Ronald wanted the best for his entire family and friends and
refused to accept any excuses as to why you could not strive and be
successful.
Ronald made a huge impact on the lives of many and he will be a missing
piece in the puzzle of many lives.
Ronald was studying for his license to become a certified Behavioral
Analyst for Autism. Due to health challenges, he was unable to sit for the
state exam in December 2021.
To celebrate his life, cherish his love and continue his legacy, Ronald leaves
his loving wife, Lauralynn Madden; daughter, Justice and son, William of
Irvington, NJ; step children, Ronald, Darnell, Latisha, Donrodie, Keion,
Dayree, Waymon and Michael; three sisters, Deborah Maske and Wanda
Trotman (Michael) of Huntsville, AL, and Dawn Joyner (Christopher) of
Brooklyn, NY; three nieces, Irsha Maske, Sheniqua George (Shewain) and
Jaleesa Davis (Terrow), two nephews, Jeron Trotman and Cescil Maske; two
aunts, Alice Marie Greene of Allentown, PA, V. Eleanor Hurst of Snellville,
GA; two uncles, James Allen Hurst (Saundra) of Greenville, SC and Johnny
Sullivan (Zelma) of Charlotte, NC; his best friend, Joseph Boccia, Esq. and a
host of cousins, other relatives, friends and co-workers.
Ronald is pre-deceased by his parents, Willie and Virginia Madden, his older
brother, Rodney Madden, his nephew, Bromley Trotman II and his
grandniece, Menicia Madden.
