Prior to his leaving the Air Force in the early 1970s, his last duty station was in the Philippines where he was working in covert satellite surveillance of classified regions of the world. After the Air Force, he used the GI Bill to attend Columbia College in Colombia, Missouri where he studied travel administration. Upon retirement, he returned to Parlin and for the last several years he has been a devoted son and caregiver to his mom, Julia.

Bobby was an avid fisherman and crabber. He was a voracious reader of historical non-fiction books especially those dealing with US History in the 20th century. He was able to speak to anyone about anything and thoroughly enjoyed a good conversation with young and old alike.
