Obituary for Richard Robert "Rich" Wagner

Richard Robert Wagner, age 72, of Matawan, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Kearny to the late John and Marie Wagner, Rich spent much of his life in Sayreville before moving to Matawan over 16 years ago. Before his retirement, he was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with Raritan Oil in Edison and Watkins Shepard Trucking as well as his own company, R & J Hauling.
Rich was a huge fan of The Beatles, always including their music in all that he did. He enjoyed drag races, especially at Raceway Park in Englishtown. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rich is predeceased by his parents and by his brother Jack Wagner. Surviving is his beloved significant partner Joan Pyne of Matawan; his loving daughter and her husband Renay Cangelosi and Michael Sicknick of Sayreville; his grandchildren Alexa Cangelosi and Austen Cangelosi and his wife Chelsea, both of Sayreville; his dear great-granddaughter Amelia; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30am on Thursday at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with burial to follow at Christ Church Cemetery in South Amboy.
Calling hours at the funeral home will take place on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm.
