Obituary for Richard Rom

Richard  Rom
Richard Rom, age 90, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020. Born in Graz, Austria on November 23, 1929, he worked as a certified landscaper before coming to America at the age of 21. He met and married Rose Piscitelli in Brooklyn, NY for over 60 years and worked as an Engineer for Swingline Staples while residing in New York and then at Jacobson Manufacturing Co. in Kenilworth, NJ for over 30 years once he and his family moved to New Jersey.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Veronika (Samide) and John Rom, sisters Elizabeth Rom, Sophie Schmuck, Angela Sterbenz, Mary Sterbenz and Hilda Helm. Richard is survived by his brother, Joseph Rom, as well as his two daughters, Linda Ricci and Lisa Rom and their husbands/partners Anthony Ricci and Richard Bencivenga. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alaina Perez, (husband Arsenio) and Steven Gitlin (wife Lauren). He also has four great-grandchildren, Kendall, Ariana, Vincent and Gianna.
Richard will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, strong devotion and unconditional love for his family and friends whose lives he touched deeply. His passion for gardening, physical fitness, nature, animals and building and repairing things brought him much pleasure. He was and always will be very loved and our Hero.
