Obituary for Richard E Godwin

Richard E. Godwin, age 62 of Sayreville passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Born in Brewster, NY, Rich moved to Sayreville 25 years ago. He was the Owner and Operator of the trucking company, R. Godwin Flatbed Service, for 30 years. He lived his life for his family and friends, and worked hard every day doing what he loved. Richard was a devoted husband, father, friend, and above all else, a great, selfless man. Loved by so many, he will forever be missed by all who knew and cared for him.

He is predeceased by his parents Edward & Mildred Godwin. Rich is survived by his adored wife Debra (Cerreto) Godwin, his beloved children Richard, Alissa, and Nicholas Godwin, as well as his three sisters, Janice, Elaine & Linda, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Prayer services will be held Monday 10am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, please note that a maximum of 100 visitors will be allowed inside the building at once and masks must be worn at all times. We encourage visitors to limit their time in the building to allow the family the maximum amount of guests possible.
