Obituary for Richard C. "Richie" Crater

Richard “Richie” C. Crater, age 70, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away on Thursday, July 23rd 2015 at his home. Born in Elizabeth and raised in Clark, he had resided in Parlin for the past 28 years and Roselle for 10 years prior to that. Before his retirement in 2010, Richard had worked in maintenance for High-Grade Beverage in South Brunswick and was a member of the Teamsters Union during that time. Richie is also a veteran of the US Army, having served in Germany. When he wasn’t spending time with his loving wife, Richie spent all of his remaining time fishing at Hacklebarney State Park and Kennedy Park in Sayreville.

He is predeceased by his parents George William and Louise (nee) Klein, his stepmother Gloria (nee) Burke, and his brothers George “Bill” Jr. & James. Surviving are his beloved wife of 45 years Robin (nee) Gamm of Parlin; his daughter and her spouse Louise & Jose Ramirez of Parlin, his daughter Carrie King of Sayreville; his 4 grandchildren Daniel, Kasey, Jake & Anna; as well as his sister-in-law and her husband Penny & Bernard Mullen and their daughter Paige of Howell, 2 stepsisters, 2 stepbrothers and many nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, with private cremation to follow. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm.
