Rene A. Castaneda, age 78 of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Centra State Hospital in Freehold, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bintog Bulacan, Philippines, he had lived in Freehold, before moving to Parlin 5 years ago. Before his retirement, Rene worked in marketing for Kodak for over 25 years. He was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church in Parlin and a member of the Catholic Covanent Community in Rahway.
He is predeceased by his son Joey Castaneda in May of 2019.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years the former Sally Clemente, his beloved children Kimberly Balagot and her husband Allan, Martin Castaneda and his wife Abigail, Jaime Castaneda and John Coman, his cherished grandchildren Lily, Julianna and Ava Balagot, Rene, Miguel, Michael and Kirsten Castaneda, his sister Sonia Velasco, his brothers Gerardo and Eduardo Castaneda, his cousin Purita Gaza, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Thursday 9:30am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, with a 10:00am mass at St. Bernadette's Church in Parlin. A private cremation will follow.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5pm to 9pm.
