Patsy Benjamin Popola, age 94, formerly of Sayreville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. Born and raised in Newark to the late Francesco and Almerinda Puopolo, Patsy relocated to Sayreville where he lived for more than 50 years. Before his retirement, Mr. Popola was the owner and operator of Popola Containers in Jersey City. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed by his dear family and friends.
Patsy is predeceased by his beloved wife Rosemarie Popola, and his dear son Patrick “Patty Boy” Popola. Surviving are his loving daughter and son-in-law Patricia and George Schmutzer of Spotswood; his dear grandchildren Heather Burke and Patrick Popola; and his great-grandson Dominick Pino.
Graveside services will take place at 10am on Monday at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange under the direction of the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin.
