Nelly Kaufman, age 72 of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico she had resided in Parlin for the past 41 years. Nelly was a communicant of Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge where she also helped run the nursery. She was an avid reader and loved to collect antiques, stamps and books. She enjoyed spending time with her family and babysitting her grandsons. Nelly was so kind and giving. She was always opening her home to friends and family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is predeceased by her parents Carmelo and Idali Cintron. Surviving are her children and their spouses Daniel and Lauren Kaufman of MD and Janeen and Miguel Rivera of Kearny, her grandsons Alexander David Kaufman and Ellis Jace Rivera, her siblings Zulma Ramos, Carmelo Cintron Jr., Nilda Rodriguez, Mercedes Cintron, Louis Cintron, Margarita Martinez and Ada Lozada, her former husband Elly Kaufman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, please note that a maximum of 100 visitors will be allowed inside the funeral home at once and masks must be worn at all times. We encourage visitors to limit their time in the building to allow the family the maximum amount of guests possible. Burial will be private with just her family.
