Obituary for Mary Sidlowski

Mary Sidlowski, 98, passed from this life into the arms of Our Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at CareOne in Holmdel, New Jersey. Mary, daughter of the late Alphonse and Lucia Ferraro DeLieto, was born January 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York. In November 1947, Mary was united in holy matrimony to Joseph A. Sidlowski Sr., of Bayonne, New Jersey. This union was blessed with three children and the Sidlowski’s settled in the Madison Park section of Old Bridge from Bayonne in 1955.
Mary was always dedicated to her community as she served in the church cleaning ministry, was a communicant of St. Bernadette Parish in Parlin, NJ and a member of the NJ Catholic Daughters of America. She also volunteered her time as an Election Poll Worker and with the Women’s Auxiliary VFW Post #211 in Sayreville NJ. For 43 years, “Miss Mary” protected the students of Madison Park Elementary School as a crossing guard on the corner of Harvard and Temple Road. Mary crossed many generations of families and seldom took time off. She faithfully enjoyed her work and loved the children she crossed.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Mary enjoyed traveling, enjoying time with her friends, and singing in the church choir.
Mary is survived by her three children: Joseph Sidlowski Jr. and his wife Irene Rose, Robert M. Sidlowski and his wife Robyn, and Karen L. McGee and her husband Keith. Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
