Obituary for Mary Alice Maher

Mary Alice Maher, age 60 of the Parlin section of Old Bridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Manhattan, she had lived in Old Bridge all her life. Mary Alice was a Registered Nurse who graduated from Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing and worked for Raritan Bay Medical Center before working as a school nurse for the Old Bridge School System. Mary Alice was a parishioner of St. Bernadette’s Church, where she served as a Eucharist Minister. She was also a Rosarian and Columbiette.

After Mary Alices mother’s passing she became the glue of the family, taking over the families Holiday traditions and being the best aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was an avid gardener, who could make anything grow. Mary Alice dedicated her life to others, serving as a nurse and being the one of the kindest women one could ever meet. She will truly be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She is predeceased by her parents John J. & Alice Maher as well as her niece Kristen Maher. Surviving are her brothers & their spouses John, Dennis & his wife Cindy, Tom, Bob & his wife Ronnie, Peter & his wife Jean, and William & his wife Audrey. Also surviving are her nieces & nephews Greg & his wife Joanna, Allison, Brian & his wife Shannon, Kelsey & Nicholas, Ian & Kiersten, Jaclyn & Patrick, Will, Gabrielle, Matt & his wife Kate, Maggie, and her great nieces & nephews Julia, Mary, Luke, Giuliana Marie, Mackenzie Alice, Lyla, and Marielle and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be Saturday 10am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, with a 10:45am Mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church. A burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
