Mary H. Murphy, age 99, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born February 26, 1917 in Woodbridge she has resided in Sayreville for the past 60 years. Mrs. Murphy was employed for 10 years as a Nurses Aid/Teachers Aid for the Woodbridge State School. Mary was a communicant of Saint Bernadette’s R. C. Church in Madison Park where she was a member of the choir, church cleaning crew, rosary society and senior citizens club. For many years she worked for the Borough of Sayreville Election Polls.

She is predeceased by her husband Vincent L. Murphy, her granddaughter Rachel Swan and her siblings Anthony Poos, Marie Cunningham, Irene Yuhas, Stephen Poos and William Poos. Surviving are her children and their spouses Patrick & Debi Murphy of Manahawkin, Mary& Richard Yuhas of Sayreville Kathleen & Daniel Czernikowski of Sayreville, John & Katherine Murphy of Jackson, Ann Marie & Craig Heun of Chelsea, Maine, her 12 grandchildren Thomas, Kelly, Cheryl, Laura, Richard, Derek, Carrie, Sean, Alexandra, Charlotte, Christopher and James and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin followed by a 9:30am mass at Saint Bernadette’s R. C. Church in Parlin with burial to follow at St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Mary’s name be made to Saint Bernadette’s R. C. Church.
