Obituary for Mark A. Johnson

South Amboy
Mark A. Johnson, Sr, age 57, of South Amboy peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Hackensack Meridien Medical Center at Old Bridge. Born and raised in Jersey City to the late Thomas and Rosemary Johnson, Mark has lived in South Amboy for the past 29 years. Until 10 years ago, he was the owner and operator of KBM Transportation in Sayreville. He was proud of his time spent in local fire departments, none more than as a first responder on September 11, 2001. Mark was known to be a very funny man and an avid Mets fan who was deeply loved by his children, grandchildren and entire family. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mark is predeceased by his beloved wife Karen Johnson, his parents, and his niece Stefanie De Jesus.

Surviving are his two loving children Mark Johnson, Jr and wife Samantha of Union City, and Brielle Johnson of South Amboy; his dear grandchildren Elizabeth and Ava Johnson-Hasan, Mark A. Johnson III (and one on the way); his sisters Kathleen Johnson and husband Carlos De Jesus of Sayreville, and Sandra Johnson of Millville; nephew Joshua De Jesus of Sayreville; his best and lifelong friend Michael “Bubba” Rayner of Secaucus; niece Lyndsey Lotrario of South Amboy; as well as many loving family members and friends.

Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with religious services at 7pm. A private cremation will follow.
