Obituary for Lucia Lozzi

South River
Lucia Lozzi, age 82, of South River, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, September 1, 2023, with her loving family by her side. Born in Molise, Italy to the late Antonio and Incoronata Liberanome, Lucia immigrated to the United States 53 years ago, first to Jersey City for 9 years and then settling in South River where she and her family have resided for over 44 years. Before her retirement, she worked for Dunkin' Donuts in East Brunswick, a job that she loved dearly

Lucia loved being around and socializing with all types of people. She was known to be extremely friendly and sociable, always providing the highest level of hospitality both in and out of her home. Lucia was a great cook, often welcoming neighbors, friends, and family into her home for a meal. She was an amazing gardener, growing a variety of flowers and vegetables and enjoyed travelling to Italy annually with her husband to see family. Through all of this, there was nothing more paramount to her being than her family, especially her 6 wonderful grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Lucia is predeceased by her parents, and by her siblings and their spouses Giuseppe and Annunziatina Libernome, Nicolino and Nicolina Liberanome, and Adolorata and Emidio Cirelli. Surviving is her beloved husband of 58 years Nicolino Lozzi of South River; her sons and their spouses Maurizio and Kelly Lozzi of Toms River, and Robert and Janice Lozzi of East Brunswick; her grandchildren Matthew Lozzi and his fiancée Julia Brawley, and Danielle, Michael, Kate, Jenna, and William Lozzi; her brother and his wife Pasquale and Marianina Liberanome of Italy; as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm at the M.A. Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Avenue, South River.

Funeral services are scheduled from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am with a 10am Catholic Mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church, South River. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in South Brunswick.
